Synopsis: In ‘The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies’. Soldier Boy returns to America in order to find Crimson Countess. But his arrival stirs up the Media.

The Story

Having returned home from Russia after having accidentally released Soldier Boy from the top-secret lab in last week’s show. Billy, Hughie, Mothers Milk, and a distraught Frenchie have to deal with the fallout. To make matters worse. Billy has used their last batch of compound V. Lucky for him. Queen Maeve is more than happy to supply Billy with more. Meanwhile with Kimiko was severely injured from the encounter with Soldier Boy. Frenchie is more concerned with making sure she gets the best treatment possible. But it turns out that Kimiko may well have lost her powers after the encounter.

At Vought. Homelander has firmly entrenched himself as the new CEO and fired a bunch of people from their jobs. As payment for having betrayed Starlight. A-Train is given the chance to use his platform to help out the Black community by calling a press event to make Blue Hawk apologize for using excessive force when patrolling the Black neighborhood. However, this soon backfires when Blue Hawk spouts a bunch of racist and ableist rhetoric.

Things get really messy when Solider Boy sets foot on American Soil. His first encounter with the public goes awfully wrong when he hears some Russian music coming from a nearby street vendor, which triggers a PTSD response from Soldier Boy who unleashes an Atomic-scale blast that takes out part of the block and kills 15 people.

Alliances Are Formed

Meanwhile. Thanks to a tip-off from a contact in the Entertainment Industry that Mothers Milk has. Billy and the gang are able to track down Crimson Countess before Soldier Boy finds her. Given that Mother’s Milk is fueled by rage when it comes to anything related to Soldier Boy. Billy incapacitates him with Rohypnol so he cannot interfere. At that point, Billy makes a loose pact with Soldier Boy and allows him to do as he will with Crimson Countess who sold Soldier Boy out to the Russians.

The Acting

As always another strong episode where it comes to the acting. Among the highlights are a really fun dream sequence where Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) finds her voice and puts on a musical performance of ‘I’ve Got Rhythm’. It’s a fun sequence with a full-on dance sequence.

We also get a chilling performance from Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk unleashes his right-wing views across Vought Media after the staged apology backfires. Wechsler sells this so well that it brought back memories of some of the nasty shit that was said by Alt-Right Knob Heads during Trump’s term in office.

Overall

‘The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies’ delivers an episode that will most likely spark some firey conversations across the proverbial water cooler. The series continues to punch all of the modern issues and troubles with society as a whole. More episodes like this, please.
