Synopsis: In ‘The Bargain of the Blood Shroud’. Nancy and the Drew Crew strike a deal with Gil Bobbsey. Meanwhile, Carson runs into a distraught Bess.
Picking up from events in last week’s show. Someone has stolen the Blood Shroud and it is not long before it is revealed that the thief is Gil Bobbsey. This triggers another investigation as well as a race against time as the Drew Crew tries and find the Blood Shroud among Gil’s various secret stashes. While the search is on. Nancy works with Gil to try and find some answers with regards to his mother’s disappearance.
Elsewhere, a distraught Bess finds distraction from her troubles by helping Carson Drew with a legal speech.
Once again we get to see more of the Bobbsey’s as the drama delves deeper into the Nancy Drew mythology. Praneet Akilla seems to be well cast as Gil Bobbsey who is definitely the more troubled of the two Twins. He gets to give us some insight into that in this episode. Returning for a third episode is Aadila Dosani as Gil’s twin sister Amanda. As she is 2 minutes older, Amanda sees it as her job to look out for Gil. Both actors are well cast as twin brother and sister and the scenes they have together hit the right balance for a sibling relationship. Dosani has a lot of scenes with Ace (Alex Saxon) and it looks like that may be going somewhere in future episodes.
Also, good this week were Leah Lewis and Tunji Kasim as we see Georgia and Ned navigate the difficulty of her sharing her body with Odette Lamar. Indeed, we get a really funny moment when Ned is looking for one of Gil’s stashes. He is struggling to find a limestone slab. Which of course sees him getting chastised by Odette for not knowing how to identify limestone from the other stones. In contrast to that lighter moment. We get another great scene toward the end of the episode where Odette takes control of Georgia’s body and attempts suicide. Thankfully, Ned with some help from Bess is able to talk her out of it.
A pretty fun episode in which we get to know the Bobbsey twins a little more. As to what the mystery is for the rest of the season is remains to be seen, but I think it somehow ties in with the Bobbsey twins given that they have popped up a couple of times. We also get a little foreshadowing toward the end of the episode that concerns Ace and his brother. Indeed, the fan theories on the web have been suggesting that Ace could be secretly one of the Hardy Boys. I’d say that based on what we have seen. Ace could well be Frank who is the older and wiser of the two. Whereas Joe is the younger and has a more impulsive nature. It will be interesting to see how they bring this into the series. If indeed the fan theories turn out to be true.
