Since the 007 franchise was born in the 1960s, various actors have played the lead role of James Bond. The most recent was Daniel Craig, who featured in five films from 2006 to 2021. As the search for Craig’s successor draws to a close, we look back at his Bond career and discuss whether he was the best 007 on-screen agent of all time.

Who Will Become the Seventh Bond?

Since Craig retired from the role in 2021, the search for the next 007 actor has been in full swing. As you would expect, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding the job, with a whole host of names being linked. Alongside sports, casino, and political betting, you can also bet on who will be the next Bond. These days, you can have a flutter on just about everything, including casino and slot games. There are loads of film-related slots, while gamblers can also play the likes of the Plinko Go game, and titles like Piggy Bandits and Demolition Dan.

As for betting on the new Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has appeared in movies like Bullet Train and MARVEL’S Avengers: Age of Ultron, is the favorite to land the role after reports suggest he was offered the job. Several other stars have also been linked, such as Henry Cavill, James Norton, and Damson Idris. Whoever plays the British agent will bring a unique passion and skillset to the part.

The Craig Era Starts With Casino Royale

When the popular Pierce Brosnan ended his Bond tenure with the somewhat disappointing Die Another Day in 2002, an extensive search ensued for the sixth Bond. Craig won the race, and his first role as 007 was in the critically acclaimed Casino Royale, which is one of the highest-rated Bond movies of all time.

Taking over from Brosnan was no easy feat, but Craig adapted to the role superbly well and continued to develop James Bond for the next 15 years. Craig made an outstanding first appearance as the British MI6 officer, turning Bond into a gritty and equally charming character. His on-screen presence was immense, helping build the Bond character for the modern era.

Craig played the lead role in five James Bond films, which were all huge successes at the box office. After Casino Royale, the English actor starred in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. His fifth and final appearance as 007 was in No Time to Die. The film, which was released in cinemas in 2021, perfectly closed the chapter on the Craig-Bond era, leaving the story open for the next Bond.

The seventh James Bond actor has big boots to fill. The likes of Connery, Moore, and Brosnan were excellent in the role, but Craig was arguably the best in terms of physical ability, emotion, and raw talent. Taylor-Johnson is perfectly suited to the 007 role, and the 33-year-old will no doubt be a great James Bond if he is indeed the chosen one.
