Smallville Vet Laura Vandervoort Cast as Indigo

TVLine reported that Laura Vandevoort, who famously portrayed Kara Zor-El on The WB’s Smallville, will recur on CBS’ Supergirl as Indigo. She’ll first appear in Episode 15. TVLine got the following scoop on the character…

Supergirl‘s Indigo is described as a “living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.”

“[Indigo] looks badass,” adds executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “She’s going to look awesome. And she definitely won’t look just like Laura. … Being one aspect of the Brainiac program, she comes in through computers, so Winn is actively involved in that episode. She was one of the Fort Rozz prisoners, so how she got there and what she’s been doing on Earth is part of the surprise of the episode

Vandervoort had been eyed for several roles on Supergirl, but scheduling conflicts with her Syfy drama Bitten prevented her from heading to National City — until now. We here at SciFi Pulse are glad those conflicts have been resolved, and we’re looking forward to the new shade she’ll bring to Supergirl’s palette.

Raissa Devereux became a life-long genre fan at the age of four when she first saw The Wizard of Oz at a screening at Arizona State University. Years later, she graduated from A.S.U. as an English major, History minor, Whovian, and Trekkie. Now a Florida transplant, she loves the opportunity Sci-Fi Pulse has given her to further explore space travel, time travel, masked heroes, gothic castles, and good yarns.
