Ridley Scott Looking To Create Movie Adaptation Of ‘The Prisoner’

'The Martian' director could bring the cult '60s TV show to the big screen.

Acclaimed director Ridley Scott has brought us some brilliant movies over the years, which include ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Alien’ and most recently ‘The Martian’, but his latest plan is to try and adapt a cult television favourite for the big screen.

According to a report found at Deadline the celebrated director is currently in talks about doing a movie adaptation of cult sixties series ‘The Prisoner’.

For those that are not familiar with the series. ‘The Prisoner’ was a 60’s drama about a spy who awakes on a mysterious island, which seems a little to idyllic. The series starred the late Patrick McGoohan and centured on his character who was refereed to as Number Six.

There is no word yet on casting for the project, which studio Universal has reportedly had in the pipeline for a while

Drafts for the film’s screenplay have previously been worked on by Edge of Tomorrow‘s Christopher McQuarrie and The Departed‘s William Monahan.
