Tom finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Tom

Synopsis: Tom finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Meanwhile, Zenzi is startled when a worried Isaac surprises her while she’s in her car applying lipstick and triple checking her already flawless makeup in the mirror after a visit to the gym. Lastly, Rowan issues a strong warning to Isaac.

The Story

Tom has seemingly been kidnapped in order to undergo a weird series of tests. Should he fail these tests a mysterious woman will be killed. Having figured out that Tom has gone missing. Isaac, who was fired by Tom’s mother in last week’s episode enlists the help of Zenzi and Rowen to try and find him. Their first stop is to consult with Tom’s computer A.I. Barcley who was seemingly in sleep mode when Tom was taken. Thankfully, the mansions security cameras captured Tom being taken.

The Acting

Albert Mwangi puts in a great performance this week as the somewhat mysterious Rowen who appears to be working a few angles. The scene where they find Tom is made so much more fun by Rowen’s somewhat deadpan reaction toward Tom. Also really solid this week was Marquise Vilson as Isaac. He pretty much assumes the leadership role throughout the search for their missing friend.

April Parker Jones has a great scene with her onscreen son toward the end of the episode when the giant plot twist is triggered. Where we pretty much find that Tom’s mother and father were also part of a secret organization, which seeks exceptional people of African American heritage to join them. Hence the kidnapping of Tom.

Overall

A pretty solid episode, which shows us that Tom is capable on his own without having to constantly rely on Zenzi and Isaac for help. The addition of yet another secret organization is going to make things rather interesting. Especially given that as of last week. We now know that this will be the first and only season of Tom Swift, which makes the chances of having story threads resolved rather unlikely.

Overall though. This was a fun and engaging hour of television.
