Synopsis: This week on Motherland With the Cession Marshal on their heels, the unit splits up; Tally, Abigail and Adil meet an ally.

The Story

Having lost Khalida in last week’s episode. The group needs to lose the Cession Marshal and his men before they can find her. So to that end, they split up. Nicte and Scylla go deeper into the woods while Abigail, Adil, and Tally use some magic to fly themselves out of harm’s way.

Once safe. At least for the moment. Tally uses her power of sight to find Khalida and the group winds up at a dive bar where they have a surprise reunion with Alder. After they have finished watching a singer put on a show. Tally follows Alder out of the bar to learn that the singer was in fact a Witch who has a bunch of stolen songs. Alder explains to Tally that the Mycelium aka Mother has brought her back in order to help find the first song, which is supposed to renew everything and put an end to all wars. However it seems the Camarilla are also after the first song, but for very different reasons.

The Acting

We get some strong performances from all cast members this week. I particularly enjoyed the tension between Scylla (Amalia Holm) and Nicte (Kandyse McClure) as the two pretty much bickered their way through the episode. Obviously, Scylla is very concerned for Raelle and has been trying to contact her via her connection with the Mycelium. Whereas Nicte’s main concern is with getting away from the Cession Marshal.

We also get a solid performance from Lyne Renée who makes a welcome return as Alder, but this is a slightly different Alder to the one we saw in the previous series. Her mission and end goals are much clearer now. Obviously given what happened last season between Alder and Tally (Jessica Sutton) their reunion is a tad tense.

As far as the Camarilla goes. We get a brilliant scene between Bob Frazer and Emilie Ullerup as Kara Brandt who is funding the operation gives Alban an epic dressing down for his failure.

Another solid episode, which leaves the Witches in a rather tricky situation, but also escalates other events as we see an attempt made on the President’s life. I look forward to seeing how all of this will link up in next week’s installment.
