Synopsis: In To Live and Die Again, Lois struggles against the fallout of the debate; Clark uses Luthor’s tactics against him, while Jonathan and Jordan prepare for an impending battle.
The Story
Reeling from last week’s debate, Lois intensifies her efforts to take down Lex Luthor, while Clark strategizes on how to unnerve Luthor and make him lose his composure. At the same time, Clark prepares for the looming battle by training the twins, determined to help them work together against Lex and any other threats they may face. To push their limits, he uses a simulation based on footage of John Henry’s mech suit attack—the closest anyone has come to defeating Superman.
Meanwhile, Lois visits Bruno Mannheim, hoping to uncover something that could turn Luthor’s partner, Amanda, against him. As tensions rise, Lex, enraged by Superman’s earlier taunts, devises a lethal plan to kill the Man of Steel once and for all. This time, he intends to unleash Doomsday again, determined to succeed where he previously failed. Added to this Lex now has a fully modded out exo suit that used to belong to John Henry.
The Acting
We get solid performances throughout this episode, but a standout moment comes when Lois visits Bruno Manheim to persuade him to help her take down Lex. The scene is packed with tension as a reluctant Manheim wrestles with the grief of losing his wife—a consequence of past decisions made by Superman and Lois. Chad L. Coleman and Elizabeth Tulloch deliver outstanding performances, bringing depth to this pivotal moment in the story.
Overall
To Live and Die Again does an excellent job setting the stage for next week’s series finale. We get just enough of the battle between Superman and Doomsday to suggest that the finale could pack a few surprises. Personally, I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
