Synopsis: In Sharp Dressed Man, Luthor challenges Lois to a live telecast debate, though not everything is as it seems; John Henry and Clark face a troubling possibility.
The Story
After revealing his identity as Superman in last week’s episode, Clark tries to return to normal life. He accompanies Lois to Metropolis, where they await news about whether she’s free from the cancer that ravaged her in last year’s storyline. The good news doesn’t last long, though. While watching a TV broadcast, Lois spots Lex Luthor inviting her to debate him.
As the story unfolds, Lois finds herself drawn into the debate, only to discover it’s part of a more sinister plan.
Meanwhile, Clark learns from John Henry that his powers are slowly fading. His alien body is struggling to sustain the human heart he received from Lois Lane’s late father. This revelation comes just before Lex’s hacker steals John Henry’s suit.
While all this unfolds, Lex Luthor is preparing his ultimate weapon: a deadly suit designed to destroy Superman once and for all.
Acting
Michael Cudlitz delivers a standout performance this week, proving to be the best television Lex Luthor I’ve seen since John Shea’s portrayal in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The scenes between him and TV host Gordon Godfrey were masterfully done. Tom Cavanagh’s portrayal of Godfrey was exceptional, making me almost forget he played a gazillion versions of Harrison Wells in The Flash. It was great to see Cavanagh tapping into his inner villain once again.
Overall
This was another solid episode that stitches together a few plot threads from the recent story arc and builds up to the big reveal of Lex’s killer suit at the end. However, there are still a few mysteries left to unravel—such as why Amanda McCoy is so eager to help Lex. I have a strong feeling she has an agenda of her own.
