Synopsis: The Kents struggle to adjust to their new normal; Lois helps throw Kyle and Chrissy an impromptu wedding that doesn’t go as planned.
The Story
Having been brought back to life thanks to the sacrifice made by General Lane. Clark struggles to adjust to life with a new heart and has to take things easy. When out flying with Jonathon to teach him about his powers Clark’s new heart skips a couple of beats as he pushes a little to far. The incident is cause for concern and Lois urges him to take it easy and take advantage of the fact that Superman has been announced as dead and enjoy the downtime. Meanwhile, Jordan is still struggling with events from last week’s episode and has asked Jonathon to make some saves while he sorts his head out. This leads to some trouble when Jonathan is lured into a trap by someone who is working for Lex Luther, which in turn Lures Clark out of his downtime in order to save Jonathan.
While all of this is unfolding Lois and Clark also find themselves in the role of relationship counselors as they help Kyle and Chrissy who were supposed to be getting married.
The Acting
Tyler Hoechlin puts in a solid performance this week as he has to give us a Superman and Clark Kent who is not as sure of himself or his abilities after having had major heart surgery. This is brilliantly juxtaposed with the fearlessness we see in Jonathan during the scenes where Clark is training him.
Overall
A solid episode that does a fairly good job of dealing with much of the fallout from recent events. I quite enjoyed seeing a Clark Kent AKA Superman struggling to deal with the fact that he has to take it easy and is not as invulnerable as he once was.
