Synopsis: In The Monsters, Courtney sets out to make amends with those around her. Jakeem puts his foot down after Mike shares his latest plan.
The Story
Having gotten a somewhat new perspective about things in last week’s show. Courtney seeks to make amends with her team and asks for their blessing to tell Cameron Mahkent the truth about what happened with his father. However, things get tricky when Beth discovers that one of the cameras that has been monitoring them is located in the Mahkent’s home, which triggers Rick into acting prematurely before the team is able to get an explanation. So at the moment when Courtney is about to tell Cameron that his father was a villain and they’d killed him. Rick blasts his way into the Mahkent home in full Hourman gear and proceeds to battle with Cameron while Cameron’s grandmother takes on Wild Cat.
Elsewhere Jakeem and Mike get a nasty surprise when they attempt to help Cindy Burman out.
The Acting
Cameron Gellman puts in a solid performance as we see Rick begin to struggle with the intoxicating effects of having the limiters taken off of his hourglass, which seems to give him unlimited strength. We also get a nice performance from Brec Bassinger as Courtney who has some quite sensitive scenes to deal with. Anjelika Washington puts in a fun performance as Beth learns a bit more about her goggles, but from her parents who have apparently been chatting with Dr. Midniter.
Overall
The Monsters is a fun episode that provides us with the mother of all superhero battles, which will likely give us a great deal of fallout in the weeks to come as the various relationships affected by things have to take stock and reconsider where they are at.
Overall. It looks like we are setting up for what will be an interesting final few weeks of this season.
