Synopsis: While serving on a jury, Nick realizes that one of his fellow jurors may be the next target of the Frozen Hearts Killer as Carson goes to court against his new girlfriend, D.A. Jean Rosario.

The Story

In the aftermath of last week’s episode. The Drew crew is still dealing with some of the fallout, which has resulted in George and Nick breaking up and Ace is still holding a candle for Nancy. However, the time for recriminations gets cut short when Nick’s Jury duty service turns into a less than routine case when a fellow Juror turns out to be the next victim of the Frozen Hearts Killer. Meanwhile, the same case sees Carson Drew going up against his girlfriend D.A. Jean Rosario.

So Nancy and her team find themselves in a race against time to try and save the life of Nick’s fellow Juror Lev. Also, George helps out Carson by doing a little detective work for him.

The Acting

Scott Wolf and Erica Cerra seem to be having a bit of fun in this episode as we see Carson and D.A. Rosario go head to head in the courtroom. I particularly enjoyed their opening statements and the moment where they get called on by the judge because of their relationship. Dejan Loyola also puts in a good performance as Lev the Juror, who Nancy and the Drew crew have to protect. The moment where Lev starts to babble in court due to his dreams about the civil war is performed nicely.

Overall

An improvement over last week’s episode, which I still think tried to do too much. I really enjoyed seeing Carson and Jean Rosario go up against each other in court. As it presents us with a fun aspect of their relationship. As well as giving us a first look at Carson doing Law in a courtroom environment. Additionally, I also liked George getting the opportunity to do a bit of side work for Carson as a detective.

In terms of CGI and the likes. We get a fun moment where Nancy barely escapes being done in by the Frozen Hearts killer. Indeed, it is a moment full of tension.
