Nexus Event

Synopsis: In ‘The Nexus Event’. Frayed nerves and paranoia infiltrate the TVA as Mobius and Hunter B-15 search for Loki and Sylvie.

The Story

Picking up from where last week left off. Loki and Sylvie are seemingly trapped on the dying planet of Lamentis. Meanwhile, back at the TVA the time agents are running around like headless chickens trying to find Loki and the variant. Ravonna Renslayer has just had a meeting with the Time Keepers and it hasn’t gone well.

Elsewhere, Mobius and HunterB-15 have found a Nexus Event where they think Loki and Sylvie are hiding in and managed to recapture them. After her previous experience with Sylvie. Hunter B-15 is suspicious that all is not as it seems with the TVA and meets privately with Sylvie to get at the truth. Additionally, Mobius is beginning to suspect that things are not right as well.

The Acting

Tom Hiddleston continues to own it as Loki and has some brilliant moments in this episode. The repeating time loop with Loki and Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) was fun. As too were the exchanges between Loki and Mobius (Owen Wilson). We also get a good performance from Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer who seems to know a lot more than she is letting on and has a past history with Sylvie.

Also, a mention should go to Wunmi Mosaku for her portrayal of Hunter B-15. She gives a great acting performance as B-15 finds out the truth about the TVA. Up until this point, her character has just been the muscle.

This episode starts to bring everything together as we learn the truth behind the TVA and get a few nice plot twists thrown in for good measure.

We get solid acting performances throughout and some wonderful visuals. I particularly enjoyed the scene where Loki and Sylvie were witnessing the meteor shower as it was gradually destroying Lamentis. There was something eerily beautiful seeing the planet’s skyscape disturbed in this way.

Overall. A solid episode and a step up from last week’s show.
