Synopsis: Jessica and Sam uncover more of the truth and face off with Shaw once and for all.
Picking the action up from where last week left off. Jessica, Luke Cage, and Sam have returned to Selene’s abandoned home in order to search for clues. While Jessica and Luke keep watch Sam accesses Selene’s computer and learns that Selene was somehow able to access the smartphones of all the kids that she was looking after at Nove Noledi and had even sent a text to her parents. Jessica hears Shaw arrive at the house and get Sam to hastily send all the information to Matt Murdock.
Having barely escaped the house. Jessica, Luke Cage, and Sam concoct a way in which they can hopefully use Shaw’s abilities against him by making clever use of a junkyard.
Fryda Wolff once again works her magic as she narrates some wonderful dramatic flourishes as the extent of Selene’s plans is revealed. You can literally feel the tension of Sam searching through Selene’s computer knowing that the clock is ticking.
I also really enjoyed how the chase was described as Shaw pursues Jessica and her friends to the junkyard where a visceral series of battles break out as both Jessica and Luke Cage work as a tag team to get Shaw exactly where they want him. The sound and narration of this sequence is edge of the seat stuff.
This has to be one of the best chapters we’ve had as Jessica and Luke get a satisfying battle with Shaw where they are finally able to have the upper hand. Vita Ayala writes another exciting chapter with a few exciting moments. Namely the search through Selene’s computer followed up with a battle royal between 3 super-powered beings. The sound effects of the fight sequences were done brilliantly well.
I can’t wait to see how the final two chapters of this story will play out.
