Synopsis: In ‘You Look Kinda Dead’. Mark joins William and Amber on a campus visit to Upstate University, hoping to discover a new future for himself. Debbie makes her own disturbing discovery.
The Story
Having just about recovered from the events in last week’s episode. Mark is able to fix things with Amber, which is thanks to some help from Samantha. In order to try and start over. Mark asked his best mate William to arrange a tour of the Upstate University Campus for himself and Amber.
While enjoying the tour. A cyborg creation from the genius mind of DA Sinclair attacks. Of course, Mark is forced to leave Amber and William to one side as he dons his superhero persona and defeats the Cyborg. In the process, William comes to the shocking realization that his best mate is Invincible. While Amber yet again becomes angry at Mark because he left her.
Things escalate some more when DA Sinclair decides to kidnap William’s Boyfriend and turn him into a Cyborg. Which triggers a chain of events in which Invincible is once again pressed into service.
Meanwhile. Marks mother Debbie has learned a terrible truth about her Husband Nolan. She knows that it was him that killed the original members of Guardians of The Globe. Also, Robotman continues his association with the Mauler Twins.
Voice Acting
Ezra Miller is brilliantly sarcastic and condescending in his role as the misguided genius DA Sinclair who is responsible for a number of missing people on campus. The scene during the lecture when he becomes exasperated with the tutor and confronts Mark and his friends is brilliantly performed.
Sandra Oh puts in a great performance this week as Debbie learns the truth about Nolan. The confrontation between her and Nolan at the end is well earned.
Overall
‘You Look Kinda Dead’ was a pretty solid episode and also another illustration of the difficulty of leading the double life of a superhero. We got a pretty good villain in the form of DA Sinclair and I hope we get to see him again sometime.
I also enjoyed the way William learns the truth about Mark’s dual identity. It will be interesting to see how all of that plays out in weeks to come. Also, fun was Samantha’s decision to use her power as Atom Eve to try and save the world each day instead of being on a team.
Overall. I continue to enjoy this series.
