Texas tops the list of the best US states for cosplay fans, with its composite score of 8.46. This state ranks highest in hosting anime conventions in 2024 and has the largest number of cosplay stores. The cosplay community in Texas is the second most active on the list.

California is the second nerdiest state, with a total score of 7.5. This state demonstrates the highest interest in cosplay-related searches, generating 768K searches across different queries. California ranks as the state with the third-highest number of anime conventions this year.

Florida holds the third spot on the list of the best US states for cosplay enthusiasts, with a composite score of 7. It has the largest and most active cosplay community on the list, as well as hosts 20 anime conventions this year, surpassed only by Texas.

Pennsylvania is the fourth geekiest US state, generating a total score of 4.55. In this state, cosplayers can hire professional photographers to capture their outfits at a rate of $242 an hour, making it the second most affordable option on the list.

Ohio ranks fifth on the list of the best US states for cosplay enthusiasts, with a composite score of 4.5. There are 144 cosplay stores in this state, which is the third-highest number on the list, surpassed by Texas and Florida.

Illinois is the sixth nerdiest state on the list, generating a total score of 4.45. It has 129 cosplay shops and will be hosting 9 anime conventions this year.

Georgia is seventh on the list of top US states for cosplay fans, with a composite score of 2.82. This state will host six anime conventions this year, which is three fewer than Illinois.

North Carolina is the eighth on the list of the best states for geeks, generathing 2.81 scores. In this state, professional photography prices are the lowest on the list, with cosplayers able to hire a photographer for just $197 an hour.

New Jersey ranks ninth among the best US states for cosplay enthusiasts, achieving a total score of 0.263. In 2024, this state will host the same number of anime conventions as Georgia. Cosplayers have the option to buy their outfits from 73 different cosplay stores throughout the state.

Michigan closes the list of the nerdiest US states with a composite score of 2.32. This state has 77 cosplay shops, which is 4 more than New Jersey.

Methodology: A comprehensive study was conducted by Ubuy.co.no to identify the best US states for cosplay enthusiasts. Google Keywords Planner was used to analyze the interest in various cosplay-related search queries, such as “cosplay,” “cosplay stores near me”, “cosplay/anime/comic book conventions,” etc. In addition, the research provides information on the number of upcoming anime conventions, cosplay stores, and cosplay communities in each state. To rank the states, the research normalized all data and calculated a composite score ranging from 0 to 1 for each state.
