Synopsis: “FRIENDS AND ENEMIES” LUKE SKYWALKER embarks upon an epic mission with WEDGE ANTILLES and the brave pilots of STARLIGHT SQUADRON to rescue a lost division of the REBEL FLEET. LEIA ORGANA, CHEWBACCA and LANDO CALRISSIAN attempt to save HAN SOLO from the evil clutches of BOBA FETT. But what hidden vision will the Force send to Luke about the troubles to come?
Luke finds himself reunited with Wedge Antilles and helps Starlight Squadron liberate a lost division of Rebel soldiers. Indeed, this group of soldiers has been pinned down by a Star Destroyer. In order to save them. Luke and Wedge execute a daring plan, which involves triggering a volcano. However, while on mission Luke has a force vision that tells him that Darth Vader is also on the hunt for Han Solo.
Meanwhile, Leia, Chewbacca and Lando have infiltrated a Crimson Dawn hideout, but they’re not alone.
As in the previous issue. Artist Ramon Rosanas absolutely rocks it as we get some great pages. I really loved the sequence of panels at the start of the issue where Luke and Wedge are attempting to lift the spirits of Starlight Squadron. Additionally, the page in which we see the Star Destroyer taken out by the volcano is brilliant. I’d love to get a decent print done of that image and frame it.
“FRIENDS AND ENEMIES” is a great story for Luke Skywalker as we get to see him reunited with Wedge, which is always special given how integral a part of the original trilogy Wedge became. I really enjoyed the opening sequence where Wedge and Luke are trying to lift the spirits of Starlight Squadron. It’s apparent that they need a win. So the pressure is very much on Luke and Wedge to help deliver it.
Charles Soule delivers a fantastic story here.
