While fans of the upcoming and much anticipated Star Trek Beyond were heartened to hear that principle shooting on the third installment of sci fi’s favorite space franchise has in fact wrapped, news that the upcoming Trek film will also be digitally re-mastered and released worldwide in the IMAX format is sure to make them even more impatient for the films anticipated release date of July 22, 2016.

J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot along with Skydance, Paramount Pictures and the IMAX Corporation have come together and pushed back the release date of Star Trek Beyond in order to ensure that the newest adventures of the revamped Cpt. Kirk and the Star ship Enterprise, will in fact coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Original Star Trek TV series.

While there are no new spoilers or leaked story details pertaining to Star Trek Beyond’s newest bad guy as played by Idris Elba, being able to view the futuristic action adventure film in the re-mastered IMAX technology is sure to add an exciting component to what will surely be a unique viewing experience.

Star Trek Beyond will feature the return of John Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin in the newly updated iconic roles that were first made famous by series creator, Gene Roddenberry.
