Just released on comic-cons youtube channel is the complete Doctor Who Season 13 panel. So without further ado here’s our take on it.
What’s New
Hosted by Melanie McFarland from Salon.com the panel included: Jodie Whitacker, Mandip Gill, John Bishop, and Showrunner Chris Chibnall. Over the last 18 months. Filming has been rather difficult due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Chris Chibnall addressed this by revealing that the new series will do things differently than in previous years. The first episode will see us joining the Doctor and Yaz midway through an adventure, which will see them meet new companion Dan (John Bishop). Chibnall also said that each new episode will be part of a bigger adventure.
John Bishop On Being Welcomed Into the Tardis

Newcomer John Bishop was very complimentary about his co-stars and how they made him feel welcome. When asked what it is like to join the series he said, “It’s different than anything I have ever done before. My day job is as a stand-up comedian, but have done bits of acting. This is an iconic series which is on a scale, an international scale than anything I’ve done before.”
The actor also commented on only seeing the whole faces of his co-stars while never actually having seen the faces of other crew members because of the Covid protections that are in place. Aside from that Bishop commented on what a supportive environment it is to work in.
Guest Stars
When asked about new characters. Chris Chibnall was somewhat cagey with any detail. But did say that there will some recurring characters throughout the series. However, he did reveal that Jocab Anderson of Game of Thrones would be joining the series. Anderson recorded a short video to introduce himself and he will be playing a character called Vinder. Anderson chatted briefly about his experience on the set and said it was one of the best experiences of his career.
