Synopsis: In ‘Shaft’. The Killjoys accept a ghost warrant to rescue three missing Killjoys lost in the heart of the Badlands. The mission leads them deep underground into an abandoned mine shaft, where the bounty hunters become the hunted.

Reviews: This episode fuses conspiracy story telling with a bit of classic horror as Dutch and her team investigate why these other Killjoys went missing and find one out of the remaining crew who have seemingly been abandoned by the RAC.

Meanwhile back in Old Town Doctor Pawter Simms is not enjoying house arrest under the care of Jelco. But is using her situations as a means to try and get intel for Dutch and Johnny. Having incapacitated a guard and put Jelco out of commission for awhile using his heart defect to her advantage. Simms uncovers plans to build walls around every province in Westerly and unsuccessfully makes a get away.

Back at the mine shaft things have taken a turn for the worse. The one remaining Killjoy that our heroes had saved has gone mad and ran off. Which has left Dutch and her crew little choice to split up and try and find her. Things are not good though because the mine happens to be populated by some weird insect creature which emits a green goo. D’avon suspects it is the same goo that Khylan tried to pump him with. The exact same goo that runs through the veins of level 6 RAC agents.

While split up. Dutch gets stung by one of the insects and begins to hallucinate. She sees Khylan who tells her she is already a level 6. Luckily Johnny and D’Avin find her before she can do to much harm to herself. And the monk Alvis finds some old monk robes in the mine shaft along with the flayed skin of the dead monk.

By the end of the episode. We’re none the wiser to the conspiracy, but we do have a few new clues and more questions regarding the mystery.

The Killjoys after a brief stop to their RAC contact to tell him. They’ll investigate their own way. They head back to Westerly to go get Simms.

Overall a fun episode. I particularly enjoyed the B – Story in which Simms seems to get the better of Jelco and learns a little more about the RAC’s plans for Westerly. However we are still in the dark with regards to the fate of Khylen or whose side he is actually on.
