It’s a great time right now if you are a collector of Funko’s range of Pop Vinyl Figures and Bobbleheads, but its an even better time now that the ever growing collectables company are expanding their range with new exciting products and even more cute twists on some of the much loved characters from genre films and television.
This last couple of months has seen Funko launch their new range of Fabrikation Figures, which are stuffed figures that are made out of high quality fabrics and stuffed with a foam. This enables them to stand up on any shelf unlike many stuffed toys, which invariably need something to prop them up. To date the big sellers are Deadpool, Harley Quinn and Batman Fabrikations, but they may find themselves eating dust in October when the new Fabrikation of Rocket Racoon from ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ comes out. The Racoon will likely rule the day.
In terms of other pending releases in the Funko line. September and October will see the release of a line of pop vinyl’s celebrating the classic horror and sci-fi from Universal Studios. We posted a previous story about them earlier in the month. Also due for release is a comic con variant Pop Vinyl of Mirror Universe Spock from the classic ‘Star Trek’ series and a new take on Funko’s already hugely successful Castiel Figure from ‘Supernatural, but the new version, which is also a variant has wings.
The fun does not end there though because if you are a UK fan of ‘Firefly’ Funko will be releasing their collection of ‘Firefly’ pops, which include all the major characters. From what I have seen of them in photographs to date. I’m definitely likely to get myself Malcolm Reynolds and Zoe.
If your looking for something smaller and more compact to carry around with you. Then October will see the release of Pocket Pop Keychains onto the UK market. The English translation would be keyrings. There will be ten to collect from across different television shows such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Game Of Thrones. And they’ll likely retail at around the £6.99 mark.
Aside from all the cuter stuff. Funko have also been gradually releasing their Re-Action figures onto the UK market. For those that may have missed them. The Re-Action range ponders the question of what ‘Back To The Future’ and ‘Escape From New York’ would have looked like had those movies and others such as ‘The Goonies’ had gotten action figures released back in the 80s when Kenner seemed to be releasing a new ‘Star Wars’ figure every week. Released in the US earlier this year. The Re-Action range will have strong appeal to fans of nostalgia. You never know, we could well see a Goonies playset come out if the figures sell well enough.
