Forced

In some ways, Anakin Skywalker was forced into the difficult journey that was his life. For example, events in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)  shows exactly that. Jake Lloyd depicts the young “Darth Vader” in that movie. So, May The Verse Be With You felt “forced” to pay homage. Significantly this week’s poem is penned by guest writer, SciFiPulse’s very own Dominic Walsh.

Forced

He is a person, not a slave

and one most definitely brave

His freedom he fought hard to win,

whilst being helped by Qui Gon Jinn

“Are you an angel”, the boy asked,

to Padme, feelings unmasked . . .

The Jedi child’s happy dreams

soon fell away to fate’s dark schemes

And soon dark forces in plain sight

twisted his soul against the light

But in the end true goodness shone,

through Anakin, the chosen one

Such pained redemption his life’s course,

All to bring balance to the force!

Jake Lloyd has now retired from acting, despite his young age, because of difficulties managing his mental health. Consequently, Dominic felt inspired to write “Forced” as a tribute to him, and what a fine job he did of it, too! It’s always great to have heroes, and especially ones that really resonate with you, taking you on adventures far, far away . . . Enjoy, and see you next week, dear readers!
