The supporting casts for upcoming Marvel series continue to thrill, in a comic fan’s dream season. The following contains mild spoilers for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Agent Carter,’ and then some other Strange stuff.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Season 2, episode 6 of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ entitled “A Fractured House,” will introduce us to Sen. Christian Ward, Hydra spy Grant Ward’s (Brett Dalton) abusive older brother. The elder Ward will be played by Tim DeKay (‘White Collar’).
Episode 5 is entitled “A Hen in the Wolf House.” According to the synopsis at Marvel.com, “Coulson’s team is up against the beautiful and deadly Bobbi Morse–Security Chief for Hydra. Meanwhile, Skye’s father forces Raina to reunite him with his daughter at any cost.”
Agent Carter
Dominic Cooper will reprise the role of Howard Stark in ‘Marvel’s Agent Carter.’ Cooper first played Tony Stark’s father in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ before returning for a cameo at the end of “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter,” and now Cooper will reunite with star Hayley Atwell for the television series.
Doctor Strange
Looks like Marvel and Joaquin Phoenix are no longer in talks for ‘Doctor Strange,’ and Marvel’s eye is wandering elsewhere. Speculation is latest talks seem to be with Ethan Hawke in for the lead role, and Al Pacino for the role of Baron Mordo, but there is also speculation about the lead role going to Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, or Justin Theroux.
One thing is for certain. The new Doctor is going to be a male, and most likely white.
On A Serious Note
An Avengers’ VFX Artist in critical condition needs your support. Michael “Dorkman” Scott (creator of the ‘Ryan Vs. Dorkman’ series and compositor for ‘The Avengers,’ ‘Castle,’ ‘Under The Dome,’ etc.) was struck by a car and pinned to a wall. The link is to raise donations to help with medical bills.
Mike talks about his work on The Avengers in this audio commentary for the film.
