Synopsis: In …And the 4b Curl. Tom is forced to make a tough choice when he discovers that an important piece of the mission to save his father is on the grounds of a family fr-enemy’s estate.
The Story
Picking up the story from last week. Tom’s father has managed to somehow survive the accident and has left Tom some clues in the form of fragments from the rocket ship. However, the first fragment has landed somewhere on the family estate of the Darby’s who have been Fr-enemy’s of the Swifts for many years. When Tom fails to convince the Darbys to let him search their mines. He and Zenzi come up with an alternative plan.
The Acting
Tian Richards continues to impress in the titular role and gets some really strong character moments in this episode. His scenes with Chris Darby (Chris Blount) provide an interesting bit of backstory, but also set things up for possible future storylines.
Ashleigh Murray continues to shine as the somewhat outspoken, but extremely smart Zenzi Fullington who continues to be strong support for Tom. I particularly enjoyed the moment when she learned the truth about Tom getting bullied by Chris.
Overall
Tom Swift provides another slick episode in which we get some nice character moments. The dinner scene between the Swift and Darby family provided a nice mixture of drama and comedy as we see Tom and Chris try to one-up each other. The scene where Tom and Zenzi go down the mine provides some nice tension. Especially given the fact that Tom had a rather traumatic childhood experience in the mine.
LeVar Burton continues to lend his very distinctive voice to the show as Tom’s computer A.I. Barcley, which we learn has been somewhat compromised by Rowen who is working for the congressman that is responsible for Tom’s father’s accident.
Overall. A fairly solid second episode.
