In Review: The Librarians And The Reunion Of Evil

A routine artefact retrieval is anything but when the artefact grafts itself to Cassandra.

Synopsis: A routine artefact retrieval is anything but when the artefact grafts itself to Cassandra. Meanwhile a blizzard forces Stone and Cassandra to take shelter at a mysterious hotel that is hosting a demon convention, who want the artefact for themselves.

Review: This episode is pretty much slapstick all the way with lots of knockabout humour.

It is also an episode, which allows Christian Kane and Lindy Booth to show off some of their brilliant chemistry and comic timing.

Story wise there isn’t much to it. If anything the story is very much by the numbers, but you are left wondering who may have caused the magical blizzard. My bet would be Apep, but that is largely due to his absence and the fact that he doesn’t get mentioned once.

The action sees Stone and Cassandra having to pose as demons at a convention of Frost Giants.

Eric Allan Kramer is fantastic fun as Olafson who Stone has to convince that he is Finklestien.

Meanwhile at the Library Jenkins, Ezekiel and Eve have to work together to figure out how to get a door to open at the hotel, which is caught in the midst of the magical Blizzard. This gives Eve an opportunity to try to encourage Ezekiel to be his better self. Which is funny because Ezekiel is having to multi task nurturing an egg for the Loch Ness Monster while simultaneously trying to locate the magical blizzard that Cassandra and Stone are caught up in.

It’s pretty obvious that the cast and writers had a lot of fun with this episode, which is somewhat light relief given that the opening two episodes did skewer a little to the darker side insofar as this show can go dark.

I loved the macho interaction between Stone and the Frost Giants and I also thought it was particularly interesting to see Cassandra be more confident with magic.

Although fun. I was a little bit disappointed that the story kind of lost sight of the seasons overall arc. Were kind of left to assume that Apep is around and most likely causing the blizzards. We also see DOSA get mentioned on several occasions in the episode, but no run ins with them.
