Synopsis: In Guns for Hire The Mandalorian and Bo-Katan visit a wealthy world that is having problems with its droids.

The Story

Picking up from where last week left off. Bo-Katan and Din Djarin have left the Mandalorian Covert to go in search of other Mandalorians in hopes of uniting the people. Their first stop is a planet on the outer rim called Plazir-15. It’s an independent world that is not affiliated with the New Republic and is ruled by a kind of monarchy. As they arrive Din Djarin and Bo-Katan are hired by Captain Bombardier and The Duchess to investigate why some of the planet’s Android population have been malfunctioning and attacking their citizens. The investigation, which is relatively easy for Din Djarin and Bo-Katan proves to be a bit of a diversion. As their initial business on the planet is for Bo-Katan to take back control of her fleet. Which means a duel with Axe Woves who took command from of her when she failed to retrieve the Dark Saber.

The Acting

This episode is somewhat of a light story filler type of episode that builds up to Din Djarin and Bo-Katan linking back up with Bo-Katan’s old group which she alienated herself from after the events seen in season 2 of the show. As such. This filler episode allows for an impressive lineup of guest stars.

Jack Black puts in a relatively subdued and light comedic performance as Captain Bombardier who is a former imperial Captain who met The Dutchess. Fell in love with her and settled with her and her royal family on Plazir-15. The Dutchess is played by Lizzo who is musical royalty. I loved the scenes where we see The Dutchess falling very much under Grogu’s spell. And the moments where Grogu is using the Force to help The Dutchess win at the game that the royal court is playing toward the close of the episode were quite cute.

The episode also benefits from a brilliant guest turn from Christopher Lloyd who plays a somewhat politically disgruntled Commissioner Helgait who Din Djarin and Bo-Katan run into during the course of their investigation.

Overall

Guns for Hire is somewhat of a filler episode that moves things forward just enough to reunite Bo-Katan and Din Djarin with Axe Woves and Koska Reeves.
