Synopsis: Having successfully captured Maul on Mandalore, Ahsoka plans to deliver him to the Jedi Council on Coruscant. When Order 66 is declared in the midst of her journey, her world is turned upside down.

The Story

Having captured Maul and helped liberate Mandalore. Ahsoka Tano says farewell to Bo-Katan and sets off to take Maul to the Jedi Council.

As her transport gets underway. The Emperor initiates Order 66, which instantly turns the clone troopers again all the Jedi, former members like Ahsoka, which suddenly finds herself having to outwit and get away from Troopers that she once commanded.

The Voice Acting

Once again. Ashley Eckstein nails her scenes as Ahsoka and gets some wonderful writing to work with. I really liked the parting scene that Ahsoka has with Bo Katan where she tells Katan that she has learned how to fight from some of the best, which includes Katan with such company as Anakin Skywalker, Obe-Wan Kenobi and other great Jedi and people that Ahsoka has learned from. Which to my mind is why Ahsoka Tano has become such a loved and nuanced character.

Another scene I liked was where Ahsoka frees Maul. Many fans had been predicting a team-up between Ahsoka and Maul in which they fight their way through the Clone Troopers. This team-up did not happen. Instead, Ahsoka tells Maul that he is nothing more than a distraction. Eckstein and Sam Witwer do a wonderful job of selling this moment.

Overall

This episode is packed with action and heartbreak. I loved how the music builds the tension to the reveal of Order 66. It’s ominous and has the viewer on the edge of their seat waiting for what we all know is coming. We get a brief scene of Ahsoka speaking with the Jedi Council and get some foreshadowing in the form of Mace Windu who let’s slip something about the general mistrust that he has in Emperor Palpatine, it is quite obvious that he is about to confront Palpatine about his misgivings. Of course, Ahsoka also fails to mention what she was told about Anakin, which makes sense giving that she’d not want to believe that her Master would turn in such a way, which makes it even more heartbreaking when the order is given.

When order 66 is given we are treated to some great action and a great moment in which we see Rex trying to fight the order, but is unable to stop himself from shooting Ahsoka. Thankfully Ahsoka manages to get away, but cuts in close.

I’m really looking forward now to seeing how Ahsoka manages to escape from the Clones. Thankfully she now has Rex by her side thanks in no small part to some helpful droids and the fact that she was able to remove the technology that was making Rex go after her.

I’m hoping that the series finale, which will premier on Monday 4 of May will be a longer running time. So that we get some quality time with the characters and perhaps get a glimpse of where Ahsoka ends up.
