Synopsis: A mysterious live signal leads Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex, and the Bad Batch to a Techno Union facility where they make a shocking discovery!
Review: This episode continues the story that began in last week’s show.
With some help from The Bad Bunch. Captain Rex and General Skywalker embark on a mission to rescue Echo from a Techno Union facility but run into a little trouble with the planet’s native population who do not want the war between The Republic and Separatists on their doorstep. Thankfully with some negotiation, the squad is able to get the natives to help them somewhat with their rescue mission, but it seems that stealth is not likely to work for this one.
Matt Lanter makes a welcome return as Anakin Skywalker and has a bit more to do in this weeks episode, which includes a brief few moments with Padme, which reveals that Padme is visibly pregnant, which indicates that this is set only a few months before ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’.
Once again Dee Bradley Baker does superb work with the voices for Rex and Echo as well as various members of The Bad Bunch. The scene at the end when Rex finally gets to reconnect with a pretty banged up Echo is beautifully played out.
This was a fairly strong second episode, which saw more Bad Bunch action, which pleased me no end because I loved their introduction in last week’s show and like the various character types we are getting from these new additions to the ‘Star Wars’ universe. I particularly enjoyed the incidental music that was used during their battle with the Techno Union Droid Army, which surrounds them as they are about to break into the control room. The music was very ‘Star Wars’ like, but also had a touch of the old fashioned Swashbuckling style music that you’d most likely hear in old pirate movies.
Overall. A great episode for Rex and The Bad Bunch as well as some wonderful foreshadowing of the tragedy that awaits Padme and her two children.
