Synopsis: In Time to Fly, Hera tangles with New Republic politics while Ahsoka and Sabine Wren voyage to a distant planet.

The Story

Hera attempts to get extra resources from the New Republic to help fight off an internal threat that could help Admiral Thrawn’s return. Ahsoka and Sabine Wren following the tracking beacon they planted last week to the planet Seatos learn of Morgan Elsbeth’s plans and discover that she has been building a Galaxy hopping Hyperspace Ring, which she has called the Eye of Sion. When operational the device will follow the migration patterns of purrgil (space whales.) Of course, all this information doesn’t come easily as Sabine and Ahsoka have to contend with a bit of dogfight with Shin Hati before they can get close enough to scan the Eye of Sion.

The Acting

Overall some strong acting performances from all concerned. I enjoyed the brief training scenes at the start of the episode where Rosario Dawson gets to show us what Ahsoka is like as a mentor figure to Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren. This made for an interesting but brief look at past relations with Jedi and Mandalorian.

Also enjoyable to watch was Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s portrayal of Hera who tries to make a case to the New Republic Council for more resources to head of an Imperial threat that could pave the way for the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

A fairly decent episode with some fun and goofy action beats and fun callbacks to the original Star Wars trilogy. A favorite moment is Ahsoka in a space suit fighting off enemy fighters while walking on the wing of her ship while Sabin makes repairs and astonishingly quickly as well. Another fun moment was Sabine whooping as she destroyed one of the Enemy fighters, which reminded me of Luke celebrating when he shot down his first Tie-Fighter when on the guns in the Millennium Falcon.

We don’t really have much information about Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati yet or any backstory for them. Nor have we seen anything of Admiral Thrawn or Ezra Bridger yet. But I get the sense that we’ll meet them soon.
