Synopsis: In The Voices In The Frost. Nick, George and Bess unravel the truth behind a college student’s mysterious death, while unexpected obstacles prevent Ace from working with Nancy and Agent Park as they grow closer and investigate the hidden origin of the Frozen Hearts Killer.

The Story

Picking up the story from last week’s episode. Nick’s old college friend Eve asks for his help in proving that she is innocent of murder. To that end, Nick teams with George and Bess to try and get to the bottom of things. Eve believes that she has been possessed by a spirit, which is why she can’t remember anything about what happened, but Bess isn’t convinced.

Meanwhile, Nancy and Agent Park turn up at the Historical Society when Ace comes up with a potential lead. He thinks he has figured out the origin of The Frozen Hearts Killer. After his quick show and tell. Nancy and Agent Park go into the hidden tunnel system where they become trapped. Meanwhile, Ace has been knocked out cold by a horseshoe. Seemingly the spirit of Beckett Dow doesn’t want Nancy to find any answers.  But it seems like more than one spirit is involved here. After he manages to get Nancy and Agent Park out of the tunnels. Ace proceeds to weld a key together and open a box only to find himself taken out of this reality where he meets Hannah Gruen who turns out to be Nancy’s mystery knocker.

The Acting

Maddison Jaizani is fantastic in this week’s episode as we see Bess begin to become rather hard-nosed in her pursuit of the truth. I loved the scenes where she was continually pushing Eve about the inconsistencies in her story. We also get great performances from Tunji Kasim and Leah Lewis who as Nick and George wind up playing the good cop role as a counterpoint to Bess’s more direct approach.

Also, good this week was Kennedy McMann and John Harlan Kim as we saw Nancy and Agent Park grow closer, which must be like a dagger in poor Ace’s heart as he is really holding a candle for Nancy. I really enjoyed the scenes in the Tunnel where Agent Park was profiling Nancy. There’s definite chemistry between these two characters.

Overall

The Voices In The Frost does a great job of revealing a few new puzzle pieces to the mystery while also revealing the answer to one of the questions that have bugged fans for the last 8 episodes. I loved the reveal at the end where we see Ace and Hannah Gruen knocking on Ace’s door.

Also, loving the whole Temperance Hudson thing and how that is beginning to connect with the main mystery. Bess’s final scene was awesome.

If like us. You can’t wait for next week’s episode. Why not check out our fun little article that explores the origins of the Aglaeca and its connection to the medieval poem of Beowulf.
