Created & Written by Matthew Medney and John Connelly, Beyond Kuiper: The Galactic Star Alliance Set to Release in bookstores and on Audible on November 11, 2020
LOS ANGELES, CA – Heavy Metal Entertainment, known for the world’s foremost illustrated science fiction and fantasy magazine, is teaming up with leading independent audiobook publisher Podium Audio, to co-produce an immersive audiobook created by Heavy Metal CEO Matthew Medney and Lockheed Martin Aerospace Engineer John Connelly, Beyond Kuiper: The Galactic Star Alliance. The book and audiobook are set to release on November 11, 2020.
A thoughtful meditation on the human race’s place in the universe as well as an entertaining sci-fi adventure, Beyond Kuiper: The Galactic Star Alliance asks some important questions. Why hasn’t sentient life been discovered in our galaxy? If that life exists, why has no other life communicated with us? The answer is simple, no one wants to. Enter the Galactic Star Alliance, a union of species and planets that span the galaxy earth calls home. But while our galaxy has yet to speak to Earth there are some humans who believe it is out there. Not as science-fantasy but as science.
The multi-voiced audiobook, scored and narrated by Kyle Perrin, will immerse listeners into the incredible galaxy imagined by Medney and Connelly. Perrin leverages his background as an audio engineer, sound designer, and composer to truly enhance the listening experience. He has engineered, sound-designed, and scored some of the most successful podcasts, animated shorts, and digital premiers online, including stories such as Another Kingdom: Season 3 and The Cold War: What We Saw, both Daily Wire Productions – alongside Heavy Metal Entertainment’s Podcast Series. Additional well-known talent will be participating in the narration of the audiobook, which will be announced at a later date.
“We’re incredibly excited to be co-producing the audiobook for Beyond Kuiper: The Galactic Star Alliance,” said Scott Dickey, CEO, Podium Audio. “The high-quality audio production combined with a soundscape, sound effects and original music, will take listeners on a truly immersive adventure into the world of Matthew Medney’s science fiction universe.”
When creating the story, which is the first in a planned series of 10 epic sci-fi prose novels, Medney and Connelly set out to respect and honor the laws of physics when imagining this world. “While the story of Kuiper is truly fantastical, the science of it is not. Everything we asserted in building this world had to pass what we call the ‘Bill Nye Test.’ If anything in our story required an alignment with true science, we made sure to do our homework, thanks to a lifelong sci-fi enthusiast and Aerospace Engineer, John Connelly,” explained Medney.
“We want all readers and listeners of the Beyond Kuiper Series to journey into exploration and discovery. We want them to not only travel through a “Hi-Fi” Science Fiction adventure, but also to engage with the most astronomical questions about our place in the universe. We pose these questions through engaging storytelling while providing an emotional yet reflective lens through which to view our society.”
While Beyond Kuiper is Connelly’s first endeavor into the writing world, Matthew has been publishing content for the last five years through his boutique custom comics company: Herø Projects. He has written stories for the music industry elite such as Hip Hop Music Festival Rolling Loud, Rock Band 311, Shaggy, Asap Ferg and many more.
