The ninth series of ‘Doctor Who’, which will premier some time in the autumn is hoping to bring a touch of magic to proceedings with the hire of Justin Molotnikov , who is perhaps best known for his work on the hit fantasy series ‘Merlin’.
According to reports Molotnikov will direct a two episodes in Peter Capaldi’s second series as the time traveling time lord.
It is currently unclear which two episodes he will direct, with two slots – episodes 9 and 10, and episodes 11 and 12 – still thought to be open.
In his recent interviews about the series executive producer and head writer Steven Moffat has revealed that the ninth series will have quite a few two part stories throughout. Which suggested that it may not be as dependent on an overall story arc laced throughout the entire series, but maybe some mini arcs instead.
Scottish filmmaker Molotnikov directed eight episodes of Merlin between 2011 and 2012, eight episodes of Atlantis between 2013 and 2015, and has also worked on Da Vinci’s Demons.
Doctor Who – starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman – will return to BBC One this autumn.
