These tournaments prize pools will be powered by Dai, MakerDao’s stablecoin cryptocurrency, and hosted on Community Gaming’s automated tournament platform. Dai’s price doesn’t suffer from volatility like other cryptocurrencies, and can be used by anyone, anytime, anywhere. Its value tracks the US Dollar making it a perfect currency for automated tournament prize pools.
Commenting on the partnership, Chris Gonsalves said “Dai is a stablecoin, meaning it’s soft-pegged to the US Dollar. This makes it a great transactional currency globally and perfect for instant tournament payments.”
These tournaments will be the first official crossover bridging the two communities in the esports arena. Kicking off this partnership is our January 30th League of Legends Tournament Powered by Dai. This event will introduce competitive gamers into the web3 world by showcasing our Autopay Technology which pays players instantly after the tournament completes. This event will be free to enter, featuring a 1200 DAI prize pool and top 8 team auto payout. Registration is LIVE now.
All three events will be streamed exclusively on THETA.tv, powered by their decentralized video delivery technology. Theta Network enables esports fans to earn TFUEL rewards for sharing their video stream with others in the network, in a peer-to-peer and decentralized fashion.
Following the first event is the blockchain-enabled game at the forefront of the Play2Earn revolution, Axie Infinity. This tournament will take place in mid-February and is being organized by one of our top organizers, Chief! Chief is an active streamer on THETA.tv looking to bring blockchain gaming communities together.
Full details on the third tournament are still TBD. Casting talent and stream giveaway details for all these events will be announced on our Twitter @CommunityGaming starting next week. Follow us on Theta and register your League of Legends squad to secure your spot to compete on January 30th!
No doubt some of us from SciFiPulse may tune in to watch some of these games.
