Ever since ‘Supergirl’ made the move to Canada to become a CW series. The question that has been hanging in the air is if Calista Flockhart would return. Flockhart played Cat Grant throughout the entire first season and was like the female version of Lane Smith’s Perry White, but without the deep love for Elvis.
After much negotiation. The production team at CW have managed to cut a deal with Flockhart to return in a recurring capacity. This is quite big deal for the show because Flockhart’s character was a big part of the shows first season, but its also big because Flockhart does not do to much work outside of her home in LA because she doesn’t like being away from her family.
During a brief interview done by Screen Rant ‘Supergirl’ EP Sarah Schechter revealed that Cat would be back, but would not be as big a part of Kara Danvers life as she was in the first series.
“She’ll be there. You’ll see plenty of Cat… Probably a little bit less, but she’ll be there. And to be honest, it works really well. Kara doesn’t have the same relationship with Cat work-wise, so it would actually be hard to have her be in it as much. Kara has a different job. Still at CatCo but she’s not her assistant and so I think it’ll feel totally natural.”
Fans will remember that the season one finale teased a different dynamic between Kara and Cat. If you recall Kara was set up to be her own boss by Grant, which suggested that she’d be taking a back seat.
As to how much interaction we’ll see Kara have with her old boss remains to be seen.
Some of us here at SciFiPulse.net look forward to finding out and are happy that Flockhart will be returning.
