Its been talked about for a few years now, but recently a ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel has begun to look a lot more likely.
In a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Winona Ryder was asked straight out whether she could confirm or deny that a sequel was in the works, and the actress shared her excitement.
“I think I can confirm it,” Ryder said. “It was very hush hush, top secret… and then [Tim Burton] was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we are doing it’, and ‘Winona is going to be in it’.
“So can I say that? I mean if he said it, I can. But I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”
Tim Burton who wrote and directed the original film said that a sequel would hang on whether or not Michael Keaton would be prepared to return or not.
He said in December 2014: “There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever…”I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”
