Universal To Adapt ‘The Wicked + Divine’ For Television

'The Wicked + Divine' Being Adapted For Television

Universal are to do a television adaptation of ‘The Wicked + Divine’ comic book series, which has been selling pretty well, and recently grabbed itself 3 Eisner Award nominations, which is not something to be sniffed at.

Entertainment Weekly have confirmed earlier reports that Universal Television picked up the rights to Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson’s comic for producers Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick’s Milkfed Criminal Masterminds.

The comic centres on human beings with superpowers known as “The Pantheon.” Each member of the group were once a normal person before they were chosen to combine with a deity’s spirit. The comic book series was launched in June of 2014 and has seemingly gone from strength to strength and enjoys a loyal following of fans.

In 2006, Gillen and McKelvie first started on comics with the cult Image book ‘Phonogram’ and later teamed for their GLAAD-Award winning stint on Marvel’s ‘Young Avengers.’
