‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’ Producer Not Messing With What Worked

"We had no intention of messing with what already worked.

‘Thunderbirds Are Go!’ producer Giles Ridge has addressed fan concerns over some reported changes to the updated version of a Gerry Anderson classic.

Ridge said that they are not messing with what had proven to have already worked on the original 60s version of the series. He said that while it would appeal to a modern audience, many of the original elements would be retained.

“We had no intention of messing with what already worked.

“It’s a classic for a reason – it’s a show that has a lot of cultural relevance for a lot of people, and so the decisions and changes we have made were not entered into lightly.

“Equally though, the series needs to appeal to a new modern audience, so whilst the iconic characters… music and story elements are largely retained, they are realised with production values that deliver an even greater dynamic and emotional experience for today’s audience.”

Thunderbirds Are Go! will premiered on Saturday April 4 at 5pm on ITV.
