Lara Croft’s original Tomb Raider game is the most popular remastered choice amongst UK gamers, according to a study conducted by Buzz Casino. With one in four (24%) gamers wanting to reacquire mysterious artefact ‘The Scion’, it was by far the most popular choice amongst 1,000 participants in a survey aimed at UK gamers.
Originally released in 1996, it’s no surprise to see that Tomb Raider was the most popular choice amongst 55-64-year-olds with one in three (30%) of respondents selecting the cult classic. When looking at gender, males were most excited about a Tomb Raider remaster with 27% of votes compared to 20% for females.
Belfast was the most excited city to see a Tomb Raider remake with over half (58%) of participants selecting the option. Call of Duty: World at War and Mario Kart: Double Dash were the other choices making the top three.
Interestingly, 15% of participants were gaming purists and chose to select ‘None of the above’ in the options, perhaps indicating a fresh need to see new games created, rather than looking to the past.
Grand Theft Auto VI might be in the works, but after the popularity of the first three remakes, GTA IV was fourth on the list of games for a remaster. Men outnumbered women by more than double when it came to wanting this particular game remade. The Simpsons Hit & Run make up the top five with 25-34-year-olds in particular keen on the idea of a remake, with over one in 10 proving keen on reliving their youth (14%).
Other games included in the top 10 are Red Dead Redemption, James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, FIFA Street, Silent Hill and Assassin’s Creed.

I’m really sick of survivor Lara Croft she was OK for alone off game but pushing her as the “definitive” version of the character is just nonsense! Would love to see the return of the original version Lara Croft in future entries of the franchise and in the remasters of the original games.
Nothing really gets remastered now, the trend is full remake. When they did it was ps2 games as you can retexture and upscale them.
Not much point remaking tomb raider as its already been done and it was a great game despite the short dev time and omitted sections
