Earlier this year ScifiPulse contributor Patrick Hayes did an excellent interview with comics writer Cullen Bunn. During the interview Patrick asked him about his new book for Dark Horse Comics ‘Harrow County’, which at the time had been picked up for a television deal. This was after just two issues of the book being released.
Not it looks like that deal is finally coming to fruition, but with Universal Cable and Syfy with Becky Kirsch tapped to write the television adaptation.
‘Harrow County’ centres on Emmy who has always known that the deep, dark woods surrounding her home crawled with ghosts, goblins, and the restless dead. On the eve of her 18th birthday, she learns that she is connected to these creatures and to the land itself in a way she never imagined, for she is the reincarnation of a powerful witch who was put to death on the very day Emmy was born. For this reason, the townsfolk mean to kill her too. In order to survive, Emmy must embrace the unusual powers at her command.
Kirsch has emerged as one of Syfy’s go to writers for developing new projects. She worked on both ‘Dominion’ and ‘Twelve Monkeys’ before being drafted for ‘Harrow County’.
