Its been a huge weekend for ‘Star Wars’ news.

Not only did the official ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ poster launch at Disney’s D23 convention in Anaheim, but we also heard exciting news about a new ‘Star Wars’ theme park.

First off lets look at the poster, which is once again designed by artist Drew Struzan and provided a surprise twist for one of the new characters.

The poster sees Han Solo shooting his blaster alongside the towering figure of new villain Kylo Ren. Stood in the background looming behind Han are new cast members Daisy Ridley as Rey and John Boyega as Finn – and excitingly marks the first time we have seen Finn wielding a lightsaber.

Finn was first revealed to fans in in the film’s first trailer in Stormtrooper armour, but Boyega previously admitted during the Star Wars Celebration event in April that his character will be launched into the Star Wars universe “in a very unique way”.

Another exciting reveal over weekend was of a new ‘Star Wars’ Worlds theme park, which is to be build within the Disney and Disney World parks and one of the rides gives fans the chance to pilot the iconic Millennium Falcon.

“We’re building a 14-acre Star Wars land at Disneyland,” Iger revealed to an audience of over 7,000 on Saturday (August 15). “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever.

“These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

These new attractions will feature characters from both the original movies as well as the forthcoming ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ Iger says that “nothing will be out of character or stray from the mythology”.

‘Star Wars Land’ will have two signature attractions, one of which is an experience which involves being dropped into a rebel battle while the other will be a ride where fans can take over the controls of the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission.
