Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Is Max Von Sydow Boba Fett?

Indeed Von Sydow would be an interesting choice for an older Boba Fett and he certainly has the acting chops to pull off a character, which oozes mystery

A new rumour sprouted up over weekend, which speculates that Max Von Sydow, who is famous for having played numerous roles, which include Jesus in ‘King Of Kings’ and of course Ming The Merciless in ‘Flash Gordon’ is to be the older version of Boba Fett.

As many fans know. Boba Fett was a role, which was originated by British character actor Jeremy Bulloch who to this day is a massively popular draw among genre fans at conventions and a real nice guy, which is something I can confirm having met him on a couple of occasions.

The rumor concerning Sydow and the Fett originated via The Nerdist, which has over time grown into a hugely successful source for all things pop culture and science fiction, but the question is. Have they got it right this time?

Indeed Von Sydow would be an interesting choice for an older Boba Fett and he certainly has the acting chops to pull off a character, which oozes mystery and he is certainly the correct age given that Boba Fett is likely around 70 years old. If you do the math the casting of Von Sydow makes sense. We first meet Boba Fett in ‘Attack Of The Clones’ set 30 years before ‘A New Hope’ and his last appearance was as a fully grown Boba Fett in ‘Return Of the Jedi’. So given that ‘The Force Awakens’ is 30 years after Jedi. Von Sydow is the perfect age.

As to if Max Von Sydow is in fact Boba Fett is something that will likely keep us guessing for awhile, but if his appearance in the new ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ game and the fact that Disney have confirmed that the character is not dead. It seems that Boba Fett could be making a pretty big comeback.
