This news doesn’t really come as any great surprise to those like myself who have been watching the series, but ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ has been picked up by Disney XD for a third season.
The series, which started in 2014 has gone from strength to strength and has captured the spirit, fun and excitement of the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy since it began.
To date the series has seen classic characters such as Lando Calrissian, Grand Moff Tarkin and Darth Vader make appearances in the series. In fact the season two part episode ‘The Siege of Lothal’ saw James Earl Jones return to voice Vader in order to open a can of whoop ass on Ezra and his mentor Kanan.
Additionally the second season has also tied in clone trooper Rex from ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’, which has made from some tense moments between him and Kanan.
The news about the renewed broke earlier this week on the 30 November.
Marc Buhaj of Disney XD announced: “We are proud to bring our audience a third season of Star Wars Rebels, a series that has resonated across generations.
“The creative team behind the series continues to do a brilliant job in delivering on the key tenets that fans have come to expect from a Star Wars property, including adventure, hope and the battle between good vs evil.”
In its renewal announcement, Disney XD touted that 48 million viewers worldwide have seen Star Wars Rebels in 157 countries.
The animated ‘Star Wars Rebels’ takes place within the franchise’s continuity between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
In addition to its main cast of characters ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ has enjoyed guest appearances from such iconic names as Anthony Daniels, Frank Oz, Billy Dee Williams and James Earl Jones.
