
Star Trek fans eager for the next installment, of the re-imagined Star Trek franchise will be pleased to know that production on the next Trek film being directed by Justin Li, has indeed begun production near Vancouver, which is apparently using the working title Washington, and will be filming at the Squamish Boulders beginning today June 25th, and continuing 26, 29, & 30 of this month.
Zachary Quinto, who has taken over the mantle and role of Spock from the late Leonard Nimoy, recently posted an Instagram photo of himself with his eyebrows appropriately trimmed and ready for intergalactic adventure, as well as another photo of himself with his iconic ‘Spock’ hairdo. Quinto also wrote the following with his post, “In honor of my first day back and the memory of my dear friend leonard go to: http://bit.ly/LoveOfSpock and support his son adam’s documentary: For The Love Of Spock!”
Zoe Saldana likewise recently posted a photo of herself in her make up chair as she is about to be energized into Lt. Uhura, a role which she likewise took over from the talented Nichelle Nichols.
Quinto also recently told E On-line, “I think the five-year mission will be a part of this next film in some way. We’re coming up on the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic sci-fi series in entertainment history so it’s inherently an ongoing story. But I do think that we’ll feel some sense of evolution in these characters that’s been building through the first few films.”
The script for the upcoming Star Trek 3 is co-written by Simon Pegg and the film is expected to open in theaters July 2016.
For those interested, the first three days of filming will take in the area of Kacodemon Boulder and Cave Boulder, with the last filming day taking place south of Black Dyke Boulder in British Columbia, which is about an hour outside of Vancouver.
