Comics legends Stan Lee and Grant Morrison are to team up on a new exclusive comic book series that will be launched on the new digital platform Humble Bundle, including the launch of Morrison’s first ever digital series ‘Avatarex’ and Lee’s ‘Chakra The Invincible.’
‘Avatarex’ centres on a world where where living myth encounters contemporary culture in India. The book is to be released in six page chapters over the course of every two weeks. Lee’s ‘Chakra The Invincible’ — based on the animated series launched on Cartoon Network India — will launch exclusively in this bundle. People who purchase Humble Bundle presents ‘Tales From India’ featuring Grant Morrison and Stan Lee will also be able to allocate some of their funds to Worldreader and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
“At a time when I feel I’ve said about as much as I have to say about the American superhero, this is an opportunity to re-imagine the entire concept through a different cultural lens,” Morrison said in a statement. “‘Avatarex’ is the first digital only comic I’ve written and I’m excited by the opportunity to create for a more accessible global platform.”
“I believe that educated young children are our world’s best hope for the future and I’m very proud to be working with Graphic India and Humble Bundle to support Doctors Without Borders and Worldreader to assist those in greatest need and perhaps help inspire the doctors, artists, and leaders of tomorrow,” he added.
As with all Humble Bundle packages, payers get to choose the amount they’d like to pay for each bundle. Series like ‘Ramayan 3392AD’ #1-16, ‘Ramayan Guidebook Special,’ ‘Ramayan Origins Special,’ ‘Myths of India’ #1-15, and ‘The Mighty Yeti’ #1 will feature in this particular bundle for any amount.
Those who pay over the average amount will will also receive Stan Lee’s ‘Chakra The Invincible’ #1-8, ‘Chakra The Invincible Short Stories,’ ‘Deepak Chopra’s Buddha: A Tale of Enlightenment’ #1-6, and ‘Black Tiger’ #1. For those willing to pay $15 or more, Grant Morrison’s ‘Avatarex’ Chapter 1, ’18 Days’ #1-10, and ’18 Days: The Illustrated Hardcover Scriptbook’ will also be included.
