In our latest SciFiPulse Now discussion, Ian Cullen and Marx Pyle take a deep dive into Amazon’s Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage as the hard-boiled detective Ben Reilly. From its atmospheric noir storytelling and intriguing world-building to its unique take on classic Spider-Man characters such as Sandman and Silvermane, the series offers something very different from the traditional superhero formula.
We discuss whether Cage was the right choice for the role, how the series compares to Sony’s previous Spider-Man spin-offs like Morbius and Madame Web, and why the show’s blend of detective drama and super-powered intrigue has won over both hosts.

I’ve started watching Spider-Noir and I’m impressed. Nicolas Cage is a good choice for Ben Reilly IMO.
He is extremely good. I also rewatched Cage as Ghost Rider while I was at it. He brought the same intensity to Johnny Blaze. I’d love more Spider-Noir if they found the right story. Plus, I’d love to see Cage return as Spider-Noir and Ghost Rider in the upcomingSecret Wars film.
He was good in it. But was not keen on him as Ghost Rider.
There are a few funny bits toward episode five or six that I think you will like where Ben thinks his secret identity is safe. I loved Megawatt.
I watched the whole thing, and I loved the not so secret identity montage. Megawatt was awesome.
I’m the Spider. Lol.
