Has Disney reached the end of the road with Indiana Jones, or is there still life beneath that famous fedora? In the latest episode of SciFiPulse Now, Ian Cullen and Marx Pyle examine what went wrong with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and ask how Lucasfilm could revive one of cinema’s greatest adventure franchises.
With Harrison Ford now in his eighties, the discussion turns to the question Disney can no longer avoid: should another actor inherit the whip and hat? Ian and Marx consider whether Indiana Jones could return through a new series of theatrical films, a Disney+ television show exploring the character’s missing years, or a complete reboot for a new generation.
They also revisit The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, discuss a possible Short Round spin-off starring Ke Huy Quan, and identify the ingredients any successful revival must preserve: archaeology, supernatural mysteries, historical settings, practical action and the energetic spirit of classic pulp storytelling.
Could a younger Indiana Jones explore untold adventures during the 1930s, face stranger threats inspired by Weird Tales, or even battle Cthulhu? Watch the episode, join the discussion and tell us who you think should wear the hat next. Subscribe to SciFiPulse Now.

Is there a reason you’re only doing YouTube videos now instead of continuing with the podcast?
Austin,
Thanks for commenting.
The simple answer is that we seemed to stop getting much traction on the podcast, and seemed to lose a large chunk of audience after we quit blogtalk and moved on to other podcasting platforms.
Also, around 2023 I had a pretty big health scare hence why we had less output for most of that year and then I took a long break and decided that I’d like to experiment with YouTube and mess around with a few formats and ideas. At the moment, we are on a reduced schedule again because, well, life stuff. But hope to return to two shows a week in the future and also hopefully bring a few guests on with us. But we try to put something new out every Thursday and appreciate comments irrespective of if we agree or not as it be pretty boring if we did all agree.
BTW if you have suggestions on shows, films or topics you would like Marx and I to discuss, feel free to let us know. And we shall give it a go.
Thanks
Ian
But verious reasons really. The big one being that youtube can potentially bring us a bigger audience and the stats are easier to navigate.
