Director Rupert Wyatt is confirmed to be directing Channing Tatum in his ‘X-Men’ spin off movie ‘Gambit’.
Wyatt has officially signed with 20th Century Fox to helm an upcoming instalment of its X-Men expanded film universe, reports Entertainment Weekly.
‘Gambit’ should have a pretty safe pair of hands in Rupert Wyatt because he has already been behind the camera on a few blockbuster movies. The most notable of which is ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘, which successfully relaunched the ‘Planet Of The Apes’ franchise and spawned last years ‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’. So with all that in mind. It will be interesting to see what he can do with ‘Gambit’, who is for my money one of the most interesting characters from the ‘X-Men’ comics.
Gambit will star Tatum as the popular X-Men character who is able to give items an electric charge with his touch.
It is expected that this new version of Gambit will eventually join the main X-Men movies down the road.
Gambit bows on October 7, 2016, directly following X-Men: Apocalypse‘s May 27, 2016 release.
