‘The Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman has denied a popular fan theory surrounding ‘The Walking Dead.’

The writer responded to fan speculation about Rick Grimes still being in a coma and the events with the zombies were part of a big dream that Grimes was having.

“Going on record to answer this,” Kirkman tweeted. “Rick is NOT still in a coma. The events of TWD are definitely happening.”

Kirkman also joked with his Twitter followers over the existence of other Walking Dead characters, ending his tweet with “#joking?”.

‘The Walking Dead’ has recently began airing its fifth season and a sixth season of the series has already been confirmed by AMC.

A spinoff project is also in the works, with Community‘s Adam Davidson directing the pilot.

The offshoot series will follow a different set of characters in an unseen area of the zombie apocalypse.
