MegaCon 2015 was as good as it has ever been!

An intergalactic BLAST was had by all freaks, geeks, fans, collectors and cosplayers at this year’s MegaCon 2015!

This past weekend saw all manner of comic, genre, science fiction, horror, anime and cosplay fans converge on Orlando, Florida, for the one and only MegaCon 2015, and what an amazing show it was!

One of the best things about MegaCon for me personally and consistently is the amazing forms of creativity and expression that are clearly evident in the tremendous amount of top notch cosplay that is always one of the central themes at every Megacon.

By the same token the energy around every single corner turned within the Orange County Convention Center floor which housed this year’s MegaCon was simply pulse pounding! So whether a fan was there to collect comics, anime, celebrity signatures and photos, or just to get their Geek on, this year’s MegaCon was the place to do it!

It is also fair to say that the extremely long lines for tickets as well as the parking and driving fiasco that seemed to haunt last year’s show, was nowhere near as bad and actually seemed quite manageable this year.

This year’s MegaCon had some phenomenal media guests in attendance such as Hulk Hogan, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau & Alan Tudyk from Serenity, Norman Reedus & Michael Rooker from The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy respectfully, as well as Robbie Amell, David Ramsey and Danielle Panabaker from Arrow and Flash. The fans were able to really meet some absolutely outstanding celebrities this year from a wide range of the genre spectrum.

MegaCon also featured amazing panels for many of these actors and their shows during the show, those which particularly stood out for me, were hosted by the convention’s Master of Ceremonies, Marc Lee.

In particular, was a panel featuring Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan from Dr. Who and Guardians of the Galaxy respectfully, who were nothing but an absolute pleasure to listen to, with really great insight into both Dr. Who and Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as very cool spoiler information dropped left and right by the actors.

Two lucky fans of Dr. Who, cosplaying as Serenity characters, Michael & Allie Cheatum, were even brought up to the stage by Alex Kingston as soon as she found out that they had just gotten married and she had the entire audience give the newlyweds a huge round of applause!

Those comic book fans attending this year’s MegaCon were also able to meet some of their favorite comic creators such as the show’s guest of honor, Stan Lee, Bob Layton, Chuck Dixon, Darwyn Cooke, Ed McGuinness, George Perez, Jimmy Palmiotti, Mike Perkins, and Tim Townsend.

And if walking around the con and interacting with some of the finest cosplayers in the world did not top off a convention attendee’s thirst for con-action, then the convention’s Mega-Galactic After Party on Saturday night at the Rosen Plaza Hotel’s Club 39 would definitely have been the proverbial cherry on top of their convention cake to that point!

There is simply nothing like partying right alongside, Groot, Bender, Ming the Merciless, Han Solo, all manner of Imperials, Xenomorphic and alien Go Go dancers, as well as the likes of Batman, The Guardian of the Galaxy’s Collector and even D.C.’s Lobo. I simply had an intergalactic BLAST at this year’s MegaCon, 2015 and can’t wait for next year’s show, which as I understand it will be a four day show next year rather than just a long weekend of convention excitement!

Well done MegaCon, keep up the good work and as this will have been Beth Widera’s last MegaCon after selling it to Fan Expo Canada, it is enough to say that the woman who made MegaCon what it is today went out with a proverbial BANG as this year’s show was the best so far!
