Funny man Ken Marino is to take on a serious role as a crime boss in the second season of ‘Agent Carter’, which will air in early 2016.
The ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ actor has signed on to the Marvel series to play Joseph Manfredi, leader of the Maggia crime family.
The new series will see Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter having to deal with organised crime and even more powerful foes.
Earlier in the week Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb said that even their villains require a certain amount of charm in order to make life tough for the heroes.
“Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding supporting cast.”
Joseph Manfredi is better known to Marvel Comics readers as the son of infamous villain Silvermane – and as an occasional HYDRA agent.
Marino’s casting in the Marvel drama comes on the heels of Kurtwood Smith and Wynn Everett signing on in recurring roles.
‘Marvel’s Agent Carter’ returns in 2016 on ABC in the US. In the UK, FOX airs the action-adventure series.
